Pest management companies and National Pest Management Association (NPMA) reported the existence of bed bugs infestation in building, apartments, hotels, hospitals, schools, college campuses, office building, retail stores, public transport including a five-star hotel and so on.

The result of the NPMA’s (National Pest Management Association) 2018 – Bugs Without Borders survey

Pest management professionals reported that residences are in the top in this list of bedbug infested places. About 97% of pest control professionals treated bedbugs in the past year and most of them said their services work 69%. In other words, their treatments are effective at 69%.

71% of people contacted them assuming fleas, 28% as cockroaches, but finally, pest control professionals identify that they are infested with bedbugs. They told that they received the most bedbug complaints in summer due to vacation travel. They also reported that 3 most common places of bedbug infestation are: 1. Single-family homes 91 %, 2. Apartments or condominiums 89 %, 3. and hotels or motels 68 %. Other infested places are nursing homes 59%, schools and daycare centers 47 %, offices 46 %, college dorms 45 %, hospitals 36 % and public transportation 19 %.

Bedbug bites appear in the body as a sign of infestation for 92% people and more than half of those reach to the doctor for treatment. Some people immediately feel skin irritation, others may take 2 or 3 days to appear symptoms, and few people may not feel at all. The real danger is for them because they remain unaware until the problem reaches an extreme position.
