How Do You Use Baking Soda To Kill Bed Bugs Fast?
Use Baking Soda to Kill Bedbugs From Your Entire Home!
Bed Bugs are Oval or elliptical shaped, and brownish in color. It’s very small as an apple seed in size but very difficult to get rid of it. Remember, one female bedbug can lay three thousand eggs, and one egg can stay undeveloped for near about a year.
This makes it more difficult to get rid of bedbugs even after using a lot of toxic chemicals. So, if possible it’s better to exterminate bedbugs with the help of pest control professionals such as South Florida Pest Control, Orkin Pest Control Service, AAA Pest Control, and so on.
But you can do it yourself if you are confident enough to work properly, and determined to follow our instructions. Due to its high cost, most people can not afford professional services, and they are searching for inexpensive ways to kill bed bugs. That’s why we have collected and explained here a simple method of killing bedbugs with Baking soda.
How does it work?
Till today no professional tests have been done to get scientific evidence that baking soda can kill bedbugs. But, if you sprinkle baking soda around the key hotspot areas bed bugs usually inhabit such as the mattress, and around the bed, it’s commonly believed that baking soda is capable to absorb all the fluids on the waxy layer of a bed bug’s shell and causing them to dehydrate.
The small granules of baking soda can also cut into bedbugs’ shells and cause internal bleeding, and finally lead to death. Moreover, in my video channel, there is one video on this topic and many people express their opinion that it’s working fine. How do you use Baking Soda?
You know, Baking soda is an item that can be found in your kitchen, and you can use it to get rid of bed bug hazards effectively. So, you need not spend extra for this purpose, and you can exterminate bedbugs from your entire home with baking soda. You’ll follow the instructions as stated below:
Things You’ll Need:
& Vacuum Cleaner.
To get maximum benefits from this process you should follow the instructions carefully as stated below:
#1. Identify all the places,
#2. Eliminate all the clutter,
#3. Use a paintbrush to spread baking soda,
#4. Remove baking soda.
#01. Identify all the places
At first, identify all the places in the house where bed bugs are likely to exist. Check carefully each & everything, and look in any cracks and crevices. You may use a flashlight to get an enhanced look in dark corners. Note all the places you find bedbugs or their symptoms.
Remember, identify them at first is very important. Otherwise, you may assume other bugs as bedbugs and treat them wrongly. And wrong treatment will waste your time and money.
Live or dead bedbugs, their husk or dung, eggs, and rusty smell are the symptoms of bedbugs infestation. Live bedbugs prove that you are currently infested with bedbugs and dead bedbugs indicate that you might be infested early before.
Since the bed is the main infested part of your house, take special care of it. Usually, bedbugs are centered around the bed including clothing, bed sheets, pillow, mattress, bed-spring & Frame, etc. But, they can hide in other places also. So, we need to check everything. Their eggs are more dangerous, as they can remain active for up to one year, and while they find a proper environment, hatch baby bedbugs.
#2. Eliminate all the clutter
Eliminate any clutter from the infected areas as Bed bugs including many other insects are likely to shelter in clutter. Use a hard brush to remove hard or sticky clutters easily. Take out these materials with a hard brush or treat them by applying a baking soda mixture.
Don’t shift the clutter to another area of the house, as this will merely spread the bed bugs in your good area also.
If you buy a double-sided brush you can use it for removing both soft and hard materials. And you can use it for another purpose also as it has one side hard and the other side soft.
If you don’t have one already, try to buy it from the nearest hardware store. Also, you can buy it online from Amazon, e-bay, or similar online stores.
#3. Spread baking soda
(1) Method1: Now, immerse a paintbrush into a bowl with baking soda, and spread it all over the floor surface including other places you suspect bedbugs are hiding. The paintbrush will help you to spray a light layer of baking soda around any cracks and crevices, carpets, even on the sofa. Also, you can spread baking soda between the bed mattress, and the bed-spring, all the surfaces of the mattress, as well as the frame.
(2) Method2: Alternatively, you can spread baking soda with a Fine Mesh Sieve Strainer. Watch the video below to learn how to spread baking soda.
The paintbrush can be of different sizes from 1 inch to 4 inches in width. You can choose a size you feel comfortable using. I recommend, at least 3 inches to buy for better performance.
Apply baking soda everywhere you suspect bed bugs to exist. Usually, bed bugs infestations are centered and around the sleeping area but other places and rooms can be infested also. Check your written notes to ensure you don’t forget to apply baking soda in any place of bedbugs infestation.
#4. Remove baking soda
Now keep the baking soda a few days until you see dead bedbugs or nymphs. Remember, nymphs are usually difficult to see. You may need close attention and extra light or lens to observe them. Ensure they all die before removing the baking soda with a vacuum cleaner.
After Removing the baking soda with Vacuum Cleaner, reapply the same procedure when you feel necessary again. Since Bed bugs are very difficult to eliminate even with the help of professional exterminators, and a lot of toxic chemicals, you need to re-apply baking soda several times a year.
Take out all the baking soda including dead or live bedbugs, their eggs, husks & dung from the carpet, mattress, bed-spring and everywhere you apply it. For better performance, you can use a special carpet cleaner.
Tips and warning:
01. This process seems very much time consuming, but it’s the most economic & easiest way to kill bedbugs effectively.
02. If you want to remove bed bugs fast, & like to spend more money, then you should not apply this method.
03. It’s necessary to treat the entire home at a time. Otherwise, your good area can be re-infested from the untreated area. Hence your total efforts to getting rid of bedbugs will be useless, unnecessary loss of time and money.
04. If you are not confident enough to apply this method perfectly or don’t like to do it yourself then call a pest control professional.
05. For instant remedies from bedbugs, you can buy bedbug spray that is available in Amazon or similar stores.
06. Although bedbug spray is not a permanent solution, at least you can kill bedbugs instantly, and sleep without anxiety. It’s easier to apply and strongly regulated by US EPA (Environment Protection Agency) to ensure that it’s safe for health.
